After more than 30 years working in the field, Grey County’s Director of Long-Term Care is retiring. Lynne Johnson’s final day in the office was June 5. She has been with Grey County for more than 13 years.

“Lynne Johnson has dedicated her professional career to her passion – caring for our most vulnerable people,” said Grey County Warden Selwyn Hicks. “Grey County is immensely thankful for Lynne’s devotion over the years. Her dedication to ‘Colouring It’ for residents was always clear and her leadership will have a lasting impact in our homes. Even when faced with difficult choices, the care and wellbeing of residents was always at the centre of her decisions. We are truly grateful for her service and we wish her all the best in retirement.”

As the Director of Long-Term Care, Johnson oversaw the administration the County’s three long-term care homes: Grey Gables in Markdale, Lee Manor in Owen Sound and Rockwood Terrace in Durham. Long-term care is the County’s largest workforce with nearly 500 employees across the three locations and a total annual budget of over $33 million. Johnson had many achievements over the years, including the major renovation and redevelopment of Lee Manor into a class A facility.

“Over the past four years I’ve seen first-hand how much Lynne cares about both her staff and the residents of our homes,” said Grey County’s Chief Administrative Office, Kim Wingrove. “Lynne is a knowledgeable, experienced and compassionate leader. It has been a pleasure working beside her. We will miss her greatly and wish her well in retirement.”

In her retirement Ms. Johnson plans to travel and spend time with family, especially her grandchildren.
