A new food truck at Sauble Beach this summer represents an expansion of a business started less than a year ago in Owen Sound.

Mr. Khan's Gyro and Fish and Chips opened on 9th Street East last summer, and when Naveed Khan saw the opportunity to bring his food to Sauble Beach, he jumped at it.

South Bruce Peninsula Mayor Janet Jackson cut the ribbon to officially open the big red truck for business at Lakeshore and 6th Street St N. She said this year is a pilot project with three trucks on town-owned property in different parts of the municipality. Mr. Khan's location is a very busy spot at the beach, she says, and there are no meal spots for a three kilometre stretch along there.

Khan said he bought the truck in the States and had to outfit it with all new equipment to meet Canadian and Ontario standards. He is proud to be offering not only food, but jobs to the community.

The menu includes fish and chips, shawarma, falafel, and various combinations with their special rice.
