Grey county buildingGrey County Council is pleased to announce Jennifer Cornell has accepted the permanent role of Director, Long-Term Care beginning October 15. Ms. Cornell has more than 20 years of experience working in long-term care, including the past eight years as the administrator and executive director of Grey Gables.

“It’s my pleasure to announce and welcome Jennifer to Grey County’s senior management team,” said Grey County Warden Selwyn Hicks. “Long-term care is a challenging, highly regulated and evolving service. Caring for some of our most vulnerable citizens is a responsibility we take seriously, and we believe Jennifer’s experience, character and commitment to residents and staff make her a superb fit for the director’s role. We look forward to working closely with her on projects like the redevelopment of Rockwood Terrace and enhancing long-term care services in Grey County.”

The director of long-term care is responsible for managing three county-owned homes: Grey Gables in Markdale, Rockwood Terrace in Durham and Lee Manor in Owen Sound. Long-term care is Grey County’s largest workforce with more than 450 employees. The department’s operating and capital budget in 2019 is just over $33 million.

Recruitment for a new executive director of Grey Gables will begin this fall.
