Three Grey County Paramedics have been recognized by the Province for their years of exceptional service. Primary Care Paramedics Heather Fortney-Wilson and Rob Gibbs were recently presented with Emergency Medical Services Exemplary Service Medals by Honourary Lieutenant-General Richard Rohmer. Shawn Klages, a duty supervisor with Grey County, has also earned a medal but was unable to attend the award presentation at the annual Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs Conference.

Exemplary Service Medals recognize paramedics who have served for at least 20 years and shown the highest standard of conduct and efficiency.

“Heather, Rob and Shawn have shown exceptional dedication to emergency medical services throughout their careers. Their devotion to care helps make our communities safer places to live, do business and raise families,” said Grey County Warden Selwyn Hicks. “Grey County is proud of Heather, Rob and Shawn’s success and thankful for their contributions to our service.”

Ms. Forney-Wilson works at Grey County’s paramedic base in Hanover and Mr. Gibbs serves the Owen Sound area. Mr. Klages serves the entire County in his role.

“Heather, Rob and Shawn are superstars. They perform their duties thoroughly, professionally and they’re leaders among their peers,” said Kevin McNab, Grey County’s director of paramedic services. “I believe Grey County has one of the strongest and most dedicated paramedic services in the Province. The example Heather, Rob and Shawn set each day is one reason why. They inspire others and I’m happy to see them recognized for their outstanding service.”
