On Friday November 14th the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries will be hosting its 2nd annual Job Fair & Information Session in partnership with Bruce Power. Explore potential employment, as well as co-op and apprenticeship opportunities in the Nuclear Industry. Job roles include administration, HR, skilled trade, supply chain, and engineering. The event will run from 2:00pm - 8:00pm at the Sydenham Campus, 1130 8th Street East, Owen Sound.
Bruce Power is Canada’s first private nuclear generator, providing 30% of Ontario’s power. Our eight units provide over 4,000 full-time, direct jobs to highly skilled employees, and thousands more indirectly. Bruce Power is a partnership among TransCanada Corp., OMERS Infrastructure Management Inc., The Power Workers’ Union, and The Society of Energy Professionals. Over 90% of employees also own a part of the company.
Bruce Power’s Life-Extension Program consists of a Major Component Replacement (MCR) Project. The MCR project runs from 2020-33 and comprises all activity concerning refurbishment and replacement of six of Bruce Power’s eight reactors. MCR will allow the Bruce site to operate to 2064. The project will start January 2020 and is predicted to lead to increased opportunites for employment.
The Sydenham Innovation Campus is located where the former Sydenham Community School was in Owen Sound. The business and training centre was created by a public-private partnership with the Business Enterprise Centre, the Grey Bruce Business Generator and the Bluewater Angel Investors Group. A brand new campus that aims to support local workers and organizations seems an ideal place to learn about the opportunites at OCNI and Bruce Power.
The Owen Sound YMCA will be there to help with resumes, along with VPI Working Solutions. If you have any resume questions ahead of time call the YMCA 519-371-9222 or VPI 519-881-4900.
