educationParents respond to escalating education worker job action: “We support our education workers, take the cuts off the table now".

On January 14th 2020 at 10 am, Ontario Parent Action Network and Ontario Families for Public Education will be holding a press conference at the Media Studio, Main Legislative Building, Queen's Park, Toronto to demand the Ford government end the devastating de-funding of public education and settle a fair deal for our children and education workers now.

Parent groups will launch a Parent Solidarity Pledge - an online tool that allows parents to sign-up to join and support striking education workers on their picket lines, and communicate to their MPP their support for the bargaining demands of education workers including:

Guarantee the current full day kindergarten model will continue past 2020.

Return staffing levels and class size averages to 2018-2019 levels.

Cancel mandatory e-learning.

Renew the Local Priorities Fund and ensure special education funding is adequate to meet the needs of every student in our province.

The Parent solidarity pledge online tool, and the messages it will direct to MPPs will convey a strong message in support of education workers during ongoing elementary and secondary contract negotiations. Parents and education workers are united to stop these devastating cuts, and united for our kids.
