healthunit fullThe Grey Bruce Health Unit thanks the public for their assistance in finding the owner of a dog involved in a biting incident that occurred in Owen Sound, last Tuesday, February 25. The owner of the dog has come forward.

By verifying the health of the dog, the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment.

At about 5:15 pm, Tuesday, February 25, 2020, a woman was bitten by a large chocolate lab named Whiskey. The incident occurred at the Owen Sound Leash-Free Dog Park on 1st Avenue East. The dog first bit the victim’s dog and then the victim, when she tried to intervene.

The dog was in the care of a woman who apologised but did not leave her name or contact information.

Staff of the Grey Bruce Health Unit need to confirm the dog is not infectious with rabies. By verifying the health of the dog, the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment.
