classroomThe Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) announced that, in addition to the sanctions currently in place, commencing on Monday, March 9, 2020, and continuing until notice is given otherwise, OSSTF members in all bargaining units governed by the School Boards Collective Bargaining Act will be engaging in the following sanctions:

Members will not provide anything other than a mark and learning skills on any formal or interim report card. In non-credit courses (e.g., special education K courses), a single comment will be provided;
Members will not organize/attend group/department/job class meetings at any time;
Members will not attend Position of Added Responsibility meetings at any time;
Members will not attend central (board) committee meetings/councils with the exception of joint union/employer meetings;
Members will not deliver/organize PD/training seminars or present at PD seminars;
Members will not participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs);
Members will not participate in any aspect of school or board improvement plans;
Members will not participate in curriculum or course writing;
Members will not update and post on school/board-related websites (excludes individual teacher/class curriculum website);
Members will not accept new teacher-in-charge, or acting VP positions, or provide coverage for absent administrators/managers;
Members will not assist with "admin" tasks including photocopying and distribution of school/board documents (with the exception of course selection materials);
Members will not file EQAO/OSSLT results;
Members will not provide equipment maintenance unless scheduled through work orders;
Members will not contact outside contractors for service not directly related to student learning (e.g., waste management, blue boxes, equipment repair);
Members will not assume responsibility for administration or distribution of keys;
Members will not provide co-op worksite visits outside of regular instruction day;
Members will not engage in any work related email or phone call outside of the instructional day or paid workday. Communication with parents outside of the regular instruction day about urgent student matters will be at the professional judgement of the member;
Members will not engage, beyond regular work hours, in community liaison work that is part of the job description unless paid overtime;
Members will not keep employer-owned electronic devices turned on beyond the end of workday unless paid overtime;
Members will not supervise students sent to the office for discipline;
Members will not prepare or make bank deposits, pick up/deliver mail outside of regular work hours;
Members will not provide setup/tear down for community functions unless paid;
Members will not be available for emergency call-ins unless paid;
Members will not be available to open or close schools outside regular scheduled shift unless paid overtime;
Members will not provide assistance with catering services and orders outside the school day or regular scheduled shift, unless paid overtime.
