The Board of the Owen Sound Market Vendor’s Association has cancelled tomorrow’s (March 14) Farmers market in Owen Sound, on the advice of the Grey Bruce Public Health Unit.
Large gatherings of people are being voluntarily limited across the region, and the market is a busy, crowded place on Saturday mornings.
“We pride ourselves on being open year-round, but COVID-19 prevention must be a community effort,” said market board President Laura Buckler.
Buckler says the market board will seek further advice from the Health Unit at the start of next week, before deciding whether market will be open March 21st.
“A lot of vendors were already prepared for market,” Buckler says, “and those with retail outlets are still available to serve customers.”
