town of south bruce peninsula town hallThe Town of South Bruce Peninsula continues to monitor the health situation created by COVID19. In an effort to mitigate the spread of the virus while protecting both the public and the employees of the Town, South Bruce Peninsula is undertaking the following actions:

• Effective 4:30 pm March 16, 2020, the following Town of South Bruce Peninsula facilities will be closed to the public: Town Hall, the Ross Whicher Centre, the Wiarton Arena, the Sauble Beach Community Centre and the two Fire Stations. Staff will continue to work however the public will not have physical access to the facilities. You can reach us by telephone or email.
• All rentals of Town facilities are cancelled and future rentals will not be booked until further notice. Please call us regarding refunds.
• The March 17, 2020 Council meetings will still be held however access by the public will be limited to 3 (three) members of the public at any given time.
• All future Council, Committee and Local Board meetings are cancelled.
• Tax and utility payments will not be accepted in person; you are encouraged to make payments through, mail, on-line/telephone banking, at your financial institution or by dropping cheques in the mailbox located at the front door of Town Hall (315 George Street Wiarton).
• Building, by-law enforcement, fire and other types of inspections will occur in open-air situations only. If an inspection is required in a closed area (ie. occupied dwelling), staff will evaluate the situation and advise the requestor accordingly.
• The landfill site remains open at this time. Payment methods will be Town account for contractors and debit “tap” for residents. Contractors without accounts must call Town Hall to set up an account. No cash or regular debit will be accepted.

The above protocols will be in place until further notice.

According to Health Canada directive, you must self-isolate for 14 days if you have travelled outside of Canada (all locations). We can’t stress enough the importance of self-isolation for 14 days upon re-entry to Canada, regardless of the country you visited.
