West Grey LogoThe Municipality of West Grey has declared a state of emergency amid the global COVID-19 pandemic.

“The spread of COVID-19 and the safety of our residents remains our top priority,” said Mayor Christine Robinson. “West Grey is joining with several other municipalities to declare a state of emergency to signal the seriousness of this pandemic and the importance of proactive measures.”

There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in West Grey, however, everyone is reminded to follow public health recommendations:
• Wash your hands with soap and water thoroughly and often
• Cough and sneeze into your sleeve or a tissue. Dispose of tissue immediately and wash your hands
• Keep surfaces clean and disinfected
• Stay home, if you can. If you must go out, practice social distancing of at least two metres or six feet.

West Grey has closed all municipal parks and facilities, postponed all public meetings and cancelled events.

The municipality will continue operating all critical services including: waste/water systems; garbage/recycling pickup and landfills; winter road maintenance; and fire and police services.

“This is a difficult time, and we will get through this together,” said Mayor Robinson. “Our emergency operations control group will be meeting regularly and the municipality will ensure a timely flow of communications to the public.”
