The Grey Bruce Health Unit has developed a formal system of receiving local donations and the distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the wide variety of associated health care partners across Grey Bruce. These settings including long-term care, retirement, group homes, and others congregate living locations such as women’s shelters, Community Living, and facilities housing the homeless.
This process will remain in place until the provincial PPE distribution through the Western Region hub is fully operational.
In collaboration with the Grey Bruce Health Unit, Bruce Power has confirmed that by the end of April the company will have distributed approximately 200,000 pieces of PPE to organizations and institutions in Grey and Bruce Counties.
The sources of PPE products include local donations and the provincial/regional supply centres. We will apply, on behalf of local organization that are not yet registered with the regional supply hub, to acquire products on their behalf.
Distribution:
Any organizations in need of PPE are asked to email Sarah Ellis at [email protected] or FAX request to 519-376-7782. Our team will follow through and itemize and prioritize all requests and organize delivery, or pick-up from the Health Unit. Shipments will begin this week. We are not able to accept requests from our hospital partners at this time.
A number of donations have been received to date. As such, our inventory volumes allows us to respond to PPE requirements for local organizations for the immediate future.
All other organizations can place orders to Ministry Emergency Operations Centre: 1-866-212-2272 or [email protected]
Donations:
The Grey Bruce Health Units is asking the public and private sector for ongoing donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure adequate supply can be maintained. We are asking for the following new, unused supplies:
• Masks – surgical and N95
• Disposable isolation gowns
• Gloves – Examination or surgeons gloves (Vinyl/Nitrile)
• Gloves – Nitrile Non-Medical Grade
• Safety goggles
• Face shields (lightweight plastic)
• Tyvek Suits
Fabric Masks:
At this time, we are not able to accept fabric masks for use in the healthcare sector. However, many of our other clients can use fabric masks. We ask that these donations come to the Health Unit for distribution to those most in need.
