Meaford Council has voted to extend financial assistance measures related to tax and utility bills until the end of June, 2020.
In order to help alleviate financial pressure on those in need in our community, the following financial assistance measures are now in place:
The second installment tax payment due date has been deferred from April 28, 2020 to June 29, 2020.
Penalty and interest charges on all taxes, water and general accounts receivable will be waived for the months of April, May and June, 2020. We will not be conducting any water shutoffs during this time.
NSF fees resulting from demonstrated circumstances related to COVID 19 for taxes, water and general accounts receivable will be waived for the months April, May and June, 2020.
Pre-authorized payment plans for the months of April, May and June 2020 may be deferred by request.
“We know some residents and businesses may be experiencing financial challenges” said Treasurer/Director of Corporate Services Darcy Chapman “Providing additional assistance sends a message that we understand their anxiety are empathetic to the significant financial challenges they may face as a result of this pandemic.”
Those who are able to continue to make payments may do so through the following methods:
Online and telephone banking
In person at your financial institution
By cheque through the drop box to the left of the front door of the Administrative Office (21 Trowbridge Street West)
By mail
