climate websiteGrey Bruce Sustainability Network (GBSusNet) has partnered with Climate Action Team Grey-Bruce (CAT) to offer the new climate action website greybruceclimateaction.ca

Climate action doesn't always mean marching in the streets or donating to a charity.

  • With such a strong sense of community in Grey-Bruce, examples of local climate action can be more personal:
attending an event to learn how healthy soil captures carbon,
  • speaking with your wallet by shopping directly at family farms, or
  • volunteering with a food bank to serve those affected by food insecurity.

These three examples are the current gaps of information in Grey-Bruce that the new shared website looks to fill.

"After listening to what local environmental groups need to make their efforts more effective," says Leigh Grigg from GBSusNet, "we've come up with a simple website with 3 buttons that will engage the public: Local Events, Local Groups & Collaboration. What we've heard from many conversations is that people want to "think globally and act locally" but can't sort through the mass of information or competing interests for their attention."

This new website is for people who want to make a difference locally, and cut out the noise and distractions of social media.

"211ontario does a great job of indexing charities & services," continues Grigg. "but it's by going to greybruceclimateaction.ca that you'll easily find the Grey & Bruce County organizations you need that can also help fight climate change. You will see close to 400 listings, but the list narrows quickly and conveniently for you as you type."

Whether your goal is to become a climate hero or just improve your home compost, you will want to learn more at www.greybruceclimateaction.ca
