When the Marine Heritage Festival Committee made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 event to ensure the safety of their volunteers and event attendees in April planning was well underway and there were sponsorship funds pledged and received.
One sponsor specifically offered the Committee the opportunity to either accept their 2020 sponsorship or they could redirect those funds to other agencies to support the fight against COVID-19. The Marine Heritage Festival made the responsible and community minded decision to redirect this sponsorship from Bruce Power to Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, and the Salvation Army Family Services & Food Bank.
“We feel incredibly fortunate to live in such a supportive community.” says Dave Wenn, Festival Co-Chairperson. “We would like to thank our generous sponsors, our faithful volunteers and our event participants and spectators for their support.”
The Marine Heritage Festival plans to set sail again July 23 to July 25, 2021 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the event.
