OS hospitalPatients who visit the Lab at any Grey Bruce Health Services hospital are now required to have an appointment. Walk-ins are no longer being accepted.

“Our Labs were built many years ago, and the waiting areas were not designed to ensure six feet of space between patients,” said Gary Sims, GBHS President and CEO. “Pre-booked lab appointments will help us manage our volumes, and ensure everyone can maintain the appropriate physical distance. Appointments will be more convenient for patients too, as it will reduce wait times.”

GBHS hospital labs are focusing on blood work for inpatients, urgent cases, pre-surgical patients and those individuals whose blood work is essential for determining same-day medication dosage and/or treatment approaches. Patients who have an OHIP requisition who can have their routine blood work done at a private Lab (e.g. LifeLabs) are encouraged to do so.

To make an appointment for Lab services at any GBHS hospital, please call 1-888-525-0553, Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Booking staff will do their best to coordinate Lab appointments with other scheduled appointments, including Oncology appointments, to reduce multiple hospital visits for patients.

To serve to the same number of patients, some Lab hours have been extended. Please click here to see the full list.
