The Municipality of Meaford is currently completing detailed design for the Sykes Street North Reconstruction project. The project will include the replacement of watermain, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and road reconstruction on Sykes Street North along the connecting link between Collingwood Street and Lombard Street. Design will proceed throughout 2020, with construction scheduled for 2021.
As part of the preliminary design process, the consulting engineer (Tatham Engineering) will be completing site investigations including a SUE investigation being completed by Multiview on Friday, July 24th to determine the location of existing utilities throughout the project area. The investigation will include a visual inspection of above ground features along with the use of a range of geophysical equipment to locate existing utilities. By completing SUE during preliminary design of the Sykes Street reconstruction project it will allow for:
- Reduced delays and costs associated with utility relocation or project redesign
- Enhanced safety and reduce the risk of damaging utilities
- Effective design around existing utilities as necessary
- Decreased service disruptions
- An up-to-date, consolidated record of subsurface utilities within the project area
During the investigation no-destructive technologies will be utilized. It can be expected that spray paint markings or flags will be placed to assist with investigation. Residents are to leave all markings in place during the investigation, and following the completion of the work.
