Facebook should come with a warning similar to your car mirror's: "Subjects in your newsfeed may not be as simple as they appear."

On December 18, the City of Owen Sound held a meeting about development charges (DCs) to give developers and the public a chance to hear from Gary Scandlan of Watson and Associates, the consultant who is advising the city, and to ask questions about this complex subject.

There were useful charts, hand-outs, and a clear presentation that has been on the city's website for the past two weeks, along with the 180-page background study, for public consideration.

I learned that my nation was under attack while in Italy last week.

After waking up from a night idled away with way too much Chianti, I found myself being told by Wolf Blitzer, red-faced and breathlessly (his only apparent means of communication) that my county would never be the same again. Through the afterglow of a Tuscan evening well spent, I tried to piece out what this meant. Saskatchewan no longer bordering Manitoba, maple sap no longer running, ice rinks turned to mush.

"Libraries are at the heart of all our communities", began Aly Boltman, Executive Director of Community Foundation Grey Bruce as she announced a significant donation to the libraries of Grey, Bruce and local First Nations Territories. The $42,400 funding, believed to be "the first of its kind in reach and inclusiveness", comes from the Eva Leflar Donor Advised Endowed Fund, the largest fund within the Community Foundation.
