The Grey Bruce Labour Council, the voice of workers in Grey and Bruce Counties for over 60 years, is intensely interested in ensuring that progressive voices are heard at all political levels. As we approach the upcoming municipal elections we must remember that “all politics are local” and municipal choices have the most immediate impact on our day to day lives.
With the Council’s interest in supporting and endorsing socially progressive candidates the delegates to the Labour Council have endorsed a significant slate of municipal candidates. These candidates have demonstrated an interest in our communities and ensuring that no one is left behind. Being socially responsible is a broad statement, but it is actually quite simple. In the political arena this means acting within the confines of municipal politics to protect and advance worker rights, sustainable jobs, living wages, healthcare, education, sound infrastructure, adequate childcare, adequate and affordable housing and much more that makes life better for all constituents/community members.
As President of the Grey Bruce Labour Council, I am providing you with our list of endorsed candidates. Is our list the only list of candidates that deserve endorsement in this context? Likely, not. However, with the ever evolving world of politics the Labour Council is pleased to add names of progressive candidates and if necessary call out those we have endorsed if they regress in their progressive views.
