Ottawa/Queen's Park

- Bill Walker MPP, Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound

The Ministry of Education is currently holding 'Listening Tours' in rural communities across the province that are being hit with school closures. This initiative should have been considered before issuing a decree that could see up to 600 schools close across the province.

To have your chance to submit your comments, please  attend Thursday night's meeting (May 25)  at 6:30pm at the Markdale Arena. For further information, please visit Ontario's Rural Education Strategy website.

I will be attending this meeting and will have petitions on hand for everyone who is interested in signing to ask the government to place a moratorium on all school closures, to suspend all accommodation reviews until the community impact component is reinstated into the PARG and that the school funding formula be fixed to better accommodate all schools' needs as promised by the Liberals in past elections.

You can also click here to download and print a copy of the petition that can be returned to my office at 100 - 920 1st Avenue West, Owen Sound, ON N4K 4K5.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact my office at 519-371-2421 or 1-416-325-6242.
