carbon tax stickerGreen Party of Ontario leader Mike Schreiner released the following statement regarding the government’s continued battle with the federal government:

“I’m shocked that the Premier is carrying on with his politically motivated lawsuit to sabotage climate solutions. He’s wasted $30 million public dollars on partisan radio ads, stickers that won’t stick, and a lawsuit that continues to fail in the courts.

"After promising to respect the will of voters in the election, he’s breaking his word and continuing to play politics with our children’s future. Worst of all, he is actually fighting to claw back money from 80% of Ontarians. According to the Financial Accountability Officer and the Ecofiscal Commission, 8 out of 10 people receive more back from their carbon rebate than they pay in pollution pricing.

"The Premier made a bad bet that voters would support his anti-climate campaign. Now he needs to respect voters, drop the lawsuit and move on.”
