Karen Gventer says NDP platform will help families in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound.
Andrea Horwath and the NDP officially launched their five-point election platform providing a vision of Ontario that protects people's pocket book, while improving the lives of Ontarians that the Liberals and Conservatives have neglected over the years.
"Enough is Enough", said NDP candidate for the riding of Bruce Grey Owen Sound Karen Gventer, "I've had discussions with students, with seniors, with workers, with farmers, and with those who have a terrible time making ends meet. Year after year, and, election after election the Liberals and Conservatives let people down and continue to disappoint by driving up the cost of student loans, hydro rates, and drug costs. The people of Bruce Grey Owen Sound remain concerned about the cost of the services at the dentist, and are excited that Andrea Horwath is offering a plan that will be better access to the services that local families count on."
Horwath's five-plank election platform includes drug and dental coverage for all Ontarians, ending hallway medicine and fixing the quality of senior's care, cutting hydro bills by 30% by bringing Hydro back into public hands, taking on student debt by converting loans to grants and creating thousands of student co-op jobs, and protecting middle class families by having the wealthiest people and most profitable corporations pay their fair share.
"Our platform is fully costed and has been independently reviewed and found very reasonable by Kevin Page, CEO of the Institute of Fiscal Studies and Democracy, and, first ever Parliamentary Budget Officer for Canada. We can have a better Ontario. Repeatedly, people tell me they are excited about the plan to have universal pharmacare, dental benefits, lower hydro rates and affordable childcare. An NDP government with Andrea Horwath would bring us change for the better," said Gventer.
