Conservative candidate Bill Walker says a cut on the gas tax is good news for everyone in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound.
Walker was responding to his leader Doug Ford's announcement this morning that a Progressive Conservative government would cut the price of gas by 10 cents per litre in Ontario.
"From farmers to trades workers, no one spends more money on gasoline than we do in rural Ontario," Walker said. "Whether it's driving to work, to doctors' appointments or to the grocery store – no one drives more than we do."
Walker said gas prices are soaring and people need relief.
"Unlike us, the NDP and Liberal parties are looking to raise the price of gasoline through their cap and trade carbon tax," he said. "That's scary. If the price hits $2 a litre, which it may by this summer, then we will be in even more trouble in rural Ontario. We need this relief."
