Danielle Valiquette
Grey Highlands Councillor and Green Party Candidate for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, Danielle Valiquette, proudly presented the Green Party's fully costed platform that offers Canadians a bold and responsible platform during this fall's election.

In her opening remarks, Valiquette stressed the urgency of the climate crisis, "First, we must repair the damage we’ve done to the air and the soil and the water. Second, we must ensure a just transition to renewable energy for everyone, and not pit the environment against our economy.  And, thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, we must act now."  She went on to say, "another green government action that must pervade all other measures – the building of partnerships across all sectors of our society." "We need all hands on deck."

The Green Party leans neither left nor right.  But, instead, looks at each issue through the lens of the community to determine pragmatic solutions.  Newly elected Green MP's will work across party lines to get things done and work to end the climate crisis.

The world's climate scientists warn that by 2030 we must be halfway towards the goal of virtually eliminating climate-changing pollution by 2050.  If we miss the 2030 target, we risk triggering runaway global warming.  2030 is also the deadline for reaching the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.  Each plank in the Green Party Platform reflects one of more of the UN's goals.

A question posed from the floor addressed MP ethics training and breach of ethics punishments.  Valiquette responded that ultimately the voter can address breach of ethics by voting for someone else.

The Green Party fully embraces all 46 articles of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and the recommendations of the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Woman and Girls (MMIWG) Report.  A Green government will uphold and fulfill Canada's responsibilities in all agreements with Indigenous Peoples.

In Valiquette's closing remarks, she reiterated that this is an emergency, "We must act now" "We have no more time. We must move forward. We owe our children and grandchildren the same promise and possibility that we ourselves have enjoyed."
