Mike Schreiner issued the following statement after the Premier acknowledged Ontario’s unacceptably low COVID-19 testing numbers:

“We owe it to people to ramp up testing.

Although I appreciate the Premier has acknowledged the problem, it is unacceptable that people who should have been tested were being turned away until now.

And if there was a shortage of testing supplies, the government should have been transparent about it.

Instead, they claimed that testing was ramping up when the numbers proved otherwise.

This must change immediately, and the Premier must make good on the promise that at-risk groups will be tested.

I want to thank the media for tracking this story and holding the government accountable on its testing deficiencies.”
