planting gardenMike Schreiner, MPP for Guelph, once again asked the Ontario government to reverse its decision to close community gardens as part of the emergency response to COVID-19.

Schreiner wrote a letter to Solicitor General, Sylvia Jones, asking her to grant an exemption to community gardens and re-classify them as an essential food service, similar to moves taken in British Columbia, New Brunswick and PEI.

A petition started by the Green Party of Ontario has collected over 10,000 signatures to date asking the province to allow community gardens to re-open with physical distancing guidelines to keep people safe.
