A 39-year-old Owen Sound man was arrested Wednesday afternoon as part of an investigation into a robbery that recently occurred at a west side apartment. The investigation revealed that the victim attended the apartment of the accused voluntarily but after spending some time there, was prevented from leaving. Much of the victim’s property was stolen from him and he was repeatedly punched, kicked and struck with a weapon as he attempted to leave.
The victim later attended the emergency department of the Owen Sound Hospital, where he was treated and released. Fortunately, the victim avoided suffering serious injuries as a result of the incident.
As part of their investigation, police obtained and executed a search warrant for the residence of the accused located on 3rd Avenue West. Several items belonging to the victim were recovered along with the weapons that are alleged to have been used in the robbery. Police also located Crystal Methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $1,500.
The accused faces numerous charges including Robbery, Forcible Confinement, Assault with a weapon, Uttering Threats, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking.
The accused has made an initial court appearance and currently remains in custody.
