The Grey Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is participating in a new mentorship program being offered at the Georgian College campus in Owen Sound.
This program creates a partnership between a Grey Bruce OPP officer and a student from the Police Foundations Program.
This mentorship will take place virtually and last for five weeks, with each officer committing six to ten hours of time with the student. This virtual connection will allow the officer and the student to discuss topics relating to policing. The program is expected to begin in a few weeks and involves other municipal policing partners as well.
This mentorship will continue to build relationships within our communities and help teach essential knowledge regarding difficult topics including suicide, victims of crime and other key areas of study. These professional relationships also help develop potential employment opportunities.
