On February 12 we published an editorial concerning the aggressive response to West Grey Council's decision to request an OPP costing, Further to that decision, the following letter from Owen Sound Mayor Ian Boddy has been included on the West Grey agenda for February 15.

Dated February 7, 2022, the letter reads "The Council for the Municipality of Owen Sound would like to request your consideration in allowing the Owen Sound Police Service the opportunity to provide a costing proposal to the Municipality of West Grey for their policing services.

We continue to believe that there are a number of synergies between the two services that could result in cost efficiencies to both and continue to support your community-based policing service."

The agenda  also includes the following earlier letter from Boddy to West Grey from 2019 when the subject of shared policing  was raised with both West Grey and Hanover.

"Dear Mayor & Council:
I am following up on my letter dated February 6, 2019 with regard to the provision of Police Services. I inquired whether your community would be interested in pursuing options that provide better services in a safe manner while also reducing each of our total costs.

I will be providing an update on any progress on this matter to my Council at our meeting on Monday, April 29, 2019. Could you please reply before Monday afternoon to my letter and advise if you are interested in pursuing this opportunity."
