In the early evening hours of February 24, 2022, a citizen came upon a single vehicle collision in the north end of the city. The citizen had some concerns regarding the driver who claimed he attempted to avoid hitting a dog. The citizen contacted the Owen Sound Police Service who attended and investigated the collision. It was determined that the driver, a 39-year-old Grey County resident had been drinking and was arrested.

Subsequent breath tests revealed the driver’s blood alcohol level to be 3 ½ times the legal limit. The driver was charged with impaired and over 80, his licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 7 days. The driver is scheduled to appear in court to answer to the charges on March 10, 2022. The collision resulted in extensive damage to the vehicle, fortunately there were no reported injuries.
