On September 28th 2022 at approximately 11:20 p.m., the Hanover Police Service attempted to stop a dark coloured racing style motorcycle on 10th Street in the Town of Hanover after it was observed by an officer driving aggressively and “popping wheelies”.
Police initiated a traffic stop; however, the motorcyclist failed to stop and accelerated away at a high rate of speed eastbound on County Road #4 into the Municipality of West Grey. A police pursuit was not initiated for public safety reasons.
Within minutes, Police were called to the scene of a fail to remain collision involving this same motorcycle just east of Hanover on Grey County Road #4.
Police determined the driver lost control because of excessive speed and slid a few hundred metres on the paved portion of the roadway before coming to rest.
The male driver, who indicated to a witness that he was not injured, was able to restart the motorcycle after several attempts and took off immediately after the crash again at a high rate of speed back towards the Town of Hanover.
Police investigators have seized several parts from the motorcycle at the scene along with a single running shoe that belonged to the driver.
The Hanover Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying this male driver who may have injuries consistent with sliding on pavement known as “road rash”. The motorcycle will have damage to the right side consistent with sliding and scraping on pavement.
