The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME), the Hanover Police Service (HPS) and the Ministry of Transportation held a commercial motor vehicle blitz for the second day in a row as part of an ongoing effort to improve road safety throughout Grey Bruce County.

Officers held the blitz in the Town of Hanover, and a total of 28 commercial motor vehicles were inspected. Of the 28 motor vehicles inspected, a total of 16 commercial motor vehicles were placed out of service due to major defects. 

A total of 19 charges were laid, the break down is below:

  • Annual inspection related - 2
  • Brake related - 1
  • Cargo securement - 2
  • Daily inspection - 2
  • Overweight vehicles - 4
  • Vehicle maintenance related - 3
  • Other Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration (CVOR) infractions - 3
  • Other Highway Traffic Act (HTA) - 2

The Grey Bruce OPP along with our community safety partners will be continuing efforts to ensure commercial motor vehicle safety and will be conducting several other commercial motor vehicle inspection blitzes over the next several days.
