On Friday, January 5, 2018 at approximately 1:18 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police came upon two unoccupied vehicles that had been parked on the shoulder of Grey Road 4 between Road 57B and Road 63 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands due to poor visibility and road conditions.
The cruiser's emergency lighting system was activated when a pick-up truck travelling eastbound came to a stop on the roadway. A dump-truck collided into the rear of the pick-up truck which subsequently collided with the back of the cruiser. The force of the collision caused the cruiser to collide with the parked passenger vehicle.
The officer, who was outside of the cruiser at the time, was not injured, nor was the driver of the dump truck.
The vehicles, with the exception of the dump truck, sustained moderate damage.
No charges were laid as a result of this collision.
Motorists are asked to use caution especially when approaching stopped emergency vehicles and tow trucks.
Grey County OPP recommend checking the weather forecast and road conditions before heading out.
