Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police responded to 180 calls for service over this past August long weekend.

Bruce Peninsula OPP received 33 traffic complainants including speeding, unsafe passing and distracted driving. Five drivers were charged for stunt driving, more than 50 km/h over the posted speed limit. Their driver's licences were suspended for seven days and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.

Police responded to 10 motor vehicle collisions ranging from a fender bender in a parking lot to a multi-vehicle collision resulting in serious but not life threatening injuries.

On Sunday, August 5, police received five separate reports of missing children at Sauble Beach. With the help of members from the public, all the children were located a short time after going missing and were reunited with their parents.

On August 5 at 8:02 p.m. Bruce Peninsula OPP were called to Lions Head Marina in Northern Bruce Peninsula for possible impaired male operating a boat. At the marina police observed a male operating a motor vehicle at the boat ramp. During the investigation police made a demand for a breath sample into an Approved Roadside Screening Device. Subsequently, the male was arrested and transported to Wiarton Detachment.

A 33-year-old male of Caledon has been charged with driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was released on a promise to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 30, 2018.
