Owen Sound Police enforcing the "Big 4".
Friday October 5, 2018 will mark the launch of Operation Impact, a national campaign to make Canada's roads the safest in the world.
This special weekend is a Canadian police initiative designed to remind people that an essential part of police enforcement is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways.
Educating the public in safe driving practices is a priority. This year we will be focusing of the ‘BIG4’ which are the main causes of death on the roadways. These include, driving while impaired by alcohol or drug, occupant restraint use, aggressive driving and distracted driving.
The deaths and serious injury in Ontario are represented by statistics, but they represent more than that. They represent moms, dads, children, sisters, brothers, loved ones, co-workers and our neighbours. Tragedy on our roadways is unacceptable to the Owen Sound Police Service and that is why, in support of Operation Impact, we join this life-saving campaign with all agencies in Canada.
The campaign and the zero tolerance enforcement will operate until Monday, October 8.
We remind the public that we all work together for safer roads and if you see an impaired driver, please call 9-1-1 immediately. For more information visit www.cacp.ca.
