Owen Sound couple charged in trafficking investigation.
The Owen Sound Police Service remains diligent in its commitment to the battle against the Opiode crisis.
Shortly after 10 p.m. on the evening of January 16, 2019, a Fentanyl trafficking investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Unit and the Criminal Investigations Branch was concluded with the arrest of an Owen Sound couple.
Blue coloured Fentanyl, which is typically more toxic, was subsequently seized that police allege the couple possessed for the purpose of trafficking. The street value of the Fentanyl is approximately $3,600.
The substance seized in this investigation is similar in appearance to Fentanyl that has been associated to several recent overdose incidents in the City of Owen Sound and surrounding area.
The accused were jointly charged with Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking. Additional charges were laid by police pertaining to driving a motor vehicle while prohibited, suspended and without insurance as required.
A 37 year old male and a 32 year old female made court appearances on the morning of January 17, 2019 and were released from custody to future court dates to answer to the charges.
