winter drivingAs the winter storm is continuing in South Bruce the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police is urging motorists to stay off the roads until such time that it is safe to travel. There are widespread whiteout conditions causing limited to nil visibility resulting in multiple road closures.

Unless absolutely necessary to travel, the South Bruce OPP is advising drivers to stay off the roadways. The blowing snow is creating zero visibility in some areas as well as heavy drifting.

The following Bruce County Roads are currently closed:

Bruce Road 3 from Hwy 9 to Hwy 21
Bruce Road 15 from Bruce Road 1 to Hwy 21
Bruce Road 1 From Hwy 9 to Paisley is
Bruce Road 10 from Chesley to Hwy 21
Grey-Bruce Line from Scone to Hwy 21
Hwy 9 Kincardine to Walkerton
Hwy 21 Goderich to Owen Sound
Bruce Road 10 From Hwy 21 to Hepworth
Bruce Road 19 From Walkerton To Grey Road 10
Bruce Road 20 From Hwy 9 to Hwy 21
Bruce Road 20 From Hwy 21 to Bruce Road 33 (Bruce Power)

The penalty for driving on a closed highway is a $110 fine and 3 demerit points, but the consequences can be far worse if you become involved in a collision, or stranded, in a white out.

Safety is a top priority of the OPP. Weather conditions can be unpredictable. If necessary, check ahead for road advisory information and monitor local media for the latest updates and alternate routes. Know before you go!
