As a result of an ongoing criminal investigation, on Thursday morning, March 14, 2019, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and members of the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) - Grey-Bruce & Huron-Perth, executed a search warrant at a residence on Grey Road 25 in the Township of Chatsworth.
As a result of the warrant to search, police seized two un-restricted rifles, 710 rounds of assorted ammunition and three prohibited 223 caliber magazines. Police also seized 22.2 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging material and drug paraphernalia. The total estimated value of the seized items was $4,025.00.
Two males at the scene were arrested and charged with firearms and drug related offences.
36-year old Steven Thomas Shields, of the Municipality of West Grey, is charged with:
- Un-Authorized Possession of a Firearm (x2)
- Un-Authorized Possession of Prohibited Device
- Possession of Weapon Contrary to Order (x4)
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine
A bail hearing is scheduled for March 15, 2019 in Owen Sound.
42-year-old Frank Duchon, of Hanover, is charged with:
- Un-Authorized Possession of a Firearm (x2)
- Un-Authorized Possession of Prohibited Device
- Possession of Weapon Contrary to Order (x4)
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine
Duchon is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on April 18, 2019.
