On April 4, 2019 approximately 1:41 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a structure fire on the 1st Concession in the Municipality of Meaford.

At approximately 1:50 a.m., police arrived at the scene to find the lone occupant of the home and two pets safely outside the residence which was consumed by fire.

The Meaford Fire Department, Chatsworth Fire Department and Inter-Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.

A 53-year old woman was treated for smoke inhalation by Grey County Paramedic Services (EMS) at the scene and released.

The fire, which started in the garage, was not deemed suspicious.
