A male faces charges after driving complaint.
On Saturday June 1st 2019 at approximately 8:36 pm the Owen Sound Police were notified of a vehicle that was believed to have been in a motor vehicle collision and failed to stop. Police approached the vehicle which was located at a downtown gas station, but before contact could be made the male driver left at a high rate of speed south bound on 3rd Avenue East. Police declined to pursue the vehicle for safety reasons due to the volume of both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
A short time later the vehicle was located on the upper south east section of the city. A 44 year old Hamner Ontario resident was arrested without incident and charged with dangerous operation and theft under $5000.
The Owen Sound Police Service dispatch received several 911 calls related to the males driving. Police also learned that the O.P.P. had received calls regarding this same vehicle.
The male was later released from custody on a promise to appear with a July 11, 2019 court date.
