Following an intensive investigation, on Saturday, June 22nd, 2019, Hanover Police arrested and charged a 16 year old local youth with “Uttering Threats”. This person has been released on conditions and Police do not anticipate any further arrests related to this investigation.
The identity of the charged person cannot be released as provided for under the YCJA [Youth Criminal Justice Act].
The Hanover Police Service would like to thank the community, in particular School authorities, parents, and students for their support and assistance in bringing this unusual case to a safe conclusion.
The Hanover Police Service was actively investigating a threat of violence towards students at the John Diefenbaker Senior School in the Town of Hanover. The threat consisted of a written message located in a washroom stall that stated violence was taking place on Thursday, June 13th 2019.
