OSPS logoOn Thursday July 11th 2019 just after 9:00pm, a collision occurred at the intersection of 14th Street West and 2nd Ave West, Owen Sound. Members of the Owen Sound Police Service attended as did Grey County Paramedic Services and the Owen Sound Fire Service.

An Owen Sound woman failed to stop for a red light and struck another vehicle. The impact caused the second vehicle to have a small fire which firefighters extinguished. Both drivers were checked by paramedics and had sustained no injuries. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

As a result of the investigation a road side breath test was conducted in which the 31 year old Owen Sound woman failed. The woman was arrested and later provided two samples of breath into an approved instrument with both samples being over the legal limit. The driver was charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration under the Criminal Code and Red Light Fail to Stop under The Highway Traffic Act.

The woman will appear in Owen Sound Court July 18, 2019 in order to speak to the charges.
