OSPS logoJust before 6:30am on Thursday July 25th, 2019 the Owen Sound Police Service received a call from a citizen stating that they believed the driver of a vehicle was possibly impaired. The citizen advised the vehicle was currently parked in the lot of an eastside restaurant.

Responding officers arrived at the scene within minutes and found a male passed out in the driver’s seat of this vehicle. Officers were eventually able to wake the male who showed obvious signs of being impaired by a drug. The male was subsequently arrested without incident and returned to the Owen Sound Police Service for further investigation.

A 38 year old male from Owen Sound has been charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Drug. He will appear in Court in Owen Sound on August 6th, 2019. The vehicle he was operating was impounded for 7 days.

The actions of the citizen are commended. The call by the citizen assisted police in getting an impaired driver off the road who posed a significant risk to the public safety.
