At approximately 10:30 am Saturday morning, Owen Sound Police Service received a call from a concerned motorist in relation to a possible impaired driver.

The caller stayed on the line with police dispatch as the vehicle made its way into the city. Police located and stopped the vehicle in the 900 block of 1st Avenue West.

Following an investigation by officers, the 65 year old female driver from Georgian Bluffs was placed under arrest for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and transported to Owen Sound Police Service for breath tests.The driver has been additionally charged with operating a motor vehicle while having a blood alcohol concentration that was equal to or exceeded 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood after providing samples of her breath 3 times that of the legal limit.

The female driver’s licence has been automatically suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded for 7 days. The driver will be appearing in court in August to answer to the charges.
