Gas canOn Tuesday evening just before 10:00 p.m two males in a black van pulled into a gas station on 16th Street East, Owen Sound. The males proceeded to refuel the vehicle as well as a fuel container, the entire time attempting to hide their identity. They then immediately left without paying for the gas. The licence plate that was attached to the vehicle was determined to be stolen. It was also discovered that this vehicle had been involved in similar occurrences in neighbouring municipalities.

An Owen Sound Officer around 2:00 Wednesday morning observed the vehicle stationary in a parking lot on the west side of the city. A lone male was found to be asleep in the vehicle. The 25 year old was arrested without incident. He was charged with several criminal offences including theft, failing to comply with two probation orders, as well when he was searched upon his arrest he was found to have drugs in his possession. This Owen Sound man has been held in custody and will appear this morning at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound for a bail hearing.

The investigation led to the arrest of a second male who was located at a residence on the west side of the city. This 22 year old man now faces theft charges as well as possession of stolen property. He was later released from custody to return for court on October 10th to answer to the charges.
