November 3rd marked the launch of Crime Prevention Week in Ontario. The Owen Sound Police Service has joined a provincial initiative to enhance the good work that is already being done by citizens and business owners in Owen Sound.
In partnership with the Ministry of the Solicitor General and the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), police services across the province will reach out to their communities and work with government, business, and community partners to highlight the importance of crime prevention as a means to achieving safer and healthier communities.
This year's Crime Prevention theme is "Preventing Crime, Protecting People".
Community safety and well-being is a shared responsibility in Ontario and the Owen Sound Police continue to work with you as partners in community safety and wellbeing.
During Crime Prevention Week we will be out in the community and on-line, enhancing public awareness. Some highlights:
- Fraud / Scam awareness via social media and interactions with businesses
- Dangers associated with drugs / alcohol / vaping
- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design
- Cannabis Law Education
