hanoverpoliceHanover police arrest a suspect for breaking out of businesses.

On December 17th 2019 at 6:30 p.m., officers with the Hanover Police Service were called to a commercial alarm at a business in the 700 block of 10th Avenue in Hanover. The investigation determined that a female suspect had been inside the building and fled the scene prior to police arrival.

At 11:20 p.m., officers were called to a second business in the 200 block of 12th Street after the property managers located a female hiding in a washroom while they were checking their building, prior to closing for the night. The female suspect pushed her way passed the property managers and fled the scene prior to police arrival.

As a result of the investigation, a female was identified and later located by officers at a residence in Hanover. At the time of her arrest, she was found in possession of stolen items from the earlier break and enter investigation.

Charged is a 27-year-old female, identified as Heather Putman of no fixed address for two counts of Breaking Out contrary to the Criminal Code. She was held overnight for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in Bail Court in Walkerton.

The Hanover Police Service wants to remind business owners to ensure that their businesses are properly checked and that the alarm and surveillance systems have been activated before closing and locking up at the end of their business day.
