The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police occasionally receives calls to help with wild animals. Unless there are public safety concerns, there are other agencies that can assist you.
The following tips from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) are being offered to guide you through an encounter with a wild animal:
Keep your distance
Don't remove an animal from its natural habitat
Contact a Wildlife Rehabilitator or the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry if you want to arrange some help for a wild animal
If you find a young animal that seems abandoned - keep dogs and/or cats away and keep quiet. An adult won't return if other animals are present, or its too noisy
If you find a sick animal and feel there is a health risk, contact your local Public Health Unit
If you have concerns about abuse, you can contact the Ontario Animal Protection Call Centre at 1-833-9-ANIMAL
If the animal is a public safety issue, contact your local police department.
