The Owen Sound Police were called by a very concerned citizen at approximately 4:45 a.m. Friday morning after observing a man in the 900 block of 1st Avenue East jumping in the street with a compound bow in his hand.
Upon the police arrival the man could not be located in the immediate area. After a search of the down town core, officers located the 27-year-old man in the area of the 200 block of 10th Street East. The man appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance and was taken into custody without incident.
The Owen Sound man who moved to the city two months ago was found in possession of the compound bow with an arrow, along with a large hunting knife fixed to his belt and a collapsible baton in his pocket. He is now facing a weapons charge and is scheduled to appear in the Owen Sound Court of Justice in June.
The man told officers upon his arrest that he was “just going hunting”.
