The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is sending out a fraud warning after receiving a report from a resident in the Township of Huron-Kinloss.
The Romance Scam typically starts online through social media or an online dating site. The conversations quickly become romantic as the scammer works to gain your trust. Before long, they are asking for money and/or personal information. Unfortunately, this scam was successful in that nearly $7,000 was sent to a con artist.
Fraud is a multi-million dollar enterprise that will only end when they stop making money.
